Whether you work for a regional SME or a global corporation, in the energy or automation sector, or in industrial or consumer electronics – with a degree in electrical engineering, you'll actively shape the megatrends of the future.
Climate protection, sustainability, and security – none of these are possible without electrical engineering. Join us and develop the hardware and software of modern electrical systems in interdisciplinary teams, from simple control units and decentralized energy generation plants to intelligent, networked drive systems for the automotive, mechanical engineering, and equipment manufacturing industries.
By moving away from fossil fuels, electrical engineering is the driving force behind an "all-electric society." This is your playground to strategically apply your interests to advance society.
In addition to the regular degree program, electrical engineering at WHZ can also be studied in cooperation with companies. Options include studying with a practical partner, studying in conjunction with the Volkswagen Training Institute, and a dual study program with a master craftsman's certificate in cooperation with the Chemnitz Chamber of Skilled Crafts.

Studying electrical engineering is an exciting blend of diverse disciplines centered around the key technologies of tomorrow. Renewable energy generation and state-of-the-art control and drive technology form the core of your studies. Lectures, seminars, and practical courses will equip you with the necessary technical and social skills to optimally prepare you for your professional career. In addition, you'll have the opportunity to undertake exciting independent student projects.
Your interests will determine your specialization from the fourth semester onward. Here, you can choose between the focus areas of electrical power engineering, automation technology, and electromobility, thus strategically guiding your individual development in the field of electrical engineering.
Furthermore, you will be part of a strong team of professors and laboratory engineers who are eager to support your progress.
