Communication and Social Media (Bachelor)

The Bachelor's program in Communication and Social Media comprehensively prepares students for the demands of professional digital communication in companies, organizations, and media outlets. It combines strategic planning and management of media and communication projects, creative media and content production with strategic communication, and modern media technologies such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and augmented reality.

The Bachelor's program in Communication and Social Media is not a course of study for the private use of social networks, nor is it training to become an influencer or content creator. Its focus is on the responsible design of digital communication processes for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

In addition to design, storytelling, and digital communication formats, students acquire a solid foundation in business, technology, and concept. Practical projects and interdisciplinary modules equip them to professionally plan, implement, and strategically manage digital media formats – opening up diverse career prospects in media, business, and communication.

The program includes the following aspects:

  • Communication and Marketing: Cross-media communication strategies, consumer behavior, digital brand and media communication, content creation, event management, and intercultural communication. Individual specialization is possible in areas such as gamification and esports.
  • Technology and Media Technology: Development and application of digital media technologies, including virtual and augmented reality, web and app development, AI-supported media design, and virtual and hybrid production methods.
  • Design and Media Design: Visual strategies and design concepts, typography, interactive media, photography, moving images, and the conceptual development of digital media products.
  • Management and Business Aspects: Business fundamentals, project and process management, digital business models, and legal principles in the IT and media context.

The study program is complemented by shared foundational modules in digitalization, visual design, communication, marketing and key skills, as well as by practice-oriented project modules that promote interdisciplinary work and real-world application scenarios.
