Free Attempt

Module examinations may also be taken before the dates specified in the examination regulations for the study programme. In this case, a module examination that is not passed for the first time is not counted (free attempt). Examination work that has been rated with a minimum of ‘sufficient‘ (4.0) or better may be credited in a new examination procedure on application to the relevant examination board.

On application by the examinee to the relevant examination board, module examinations or examination work that has been passed in the course of a free attempt may be repeated at the next regular examination date in order to improve the grade. In this case, the better grade counts.

The examination regulations for the respective study programmes contain further details.
